Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What are the origins of our cinnamon sticks?
We mainly offer two varieties of cinnamon:
- Ceylon cinnamon, renowned for its woody flavor and low sugar content.
- Cassia cinnamon, which is used in all our other products. This variety is more robust, with an intense, spicy flavor that is highly prized in cooking and baking.
Do we use additives or preservatives in our spices?
At Sainte Lucie, we strive to offer you the simplest, most natural products possible. When additives or preservatives are used, it's only to guarantee the quality and safety of our recipes. So far, we haven't found an alternative without compromising the result... but we'll keep looking!
The complete composition of our products is indicated on each product sheet.
Are our products certified organic?
Yes, part of our range is certified Agriculture Biologique (AB). You'll easily recognize them by the "AB" logo on the packaging and product sheet.
What are our commitments to sustainable and fair sourcing?
At Sainte Lucie, we believe that a good product starts with a responsible partnership. That's why we work hand in hand with suppliers who respect nature and people. We favor sustainable supply chains and support French production, notably with our Herbes de France range and our delicious local hazelnuts. Because doing things right is our way of delighting you!
What are the differences between "extract", "natural flavour" and "aroma"?
These terms can be confusing, so here's a quick guide:
- Vanilla flavor: reproduces the taste of vanilla, but is chemically synthesized. It offers a caramelized, sweet and slightly milky profile, but is not considered natural.
- Natural flavoring or natural vanilla flavoring : its aromatic component is obtained from natural raw materials, but not necessarily from vanilla itself. In other words, it does not necessarily come from the pod. It mimics the taste of vanilla with a sweet and slightly cocoa-like note.
- Natural vanilla flavor: at least 95% of its aromatic content comes from real vanilla beans. The remaining 5% consists of other natural substances that round out the flavor profile. The result is a caramelized, sweet flavor that closely resembles the authentic aroma of vanilla beans.
- Vanilla extract: its aromatic part is 100% derived from vanilla beans. This is the purest form, offering an authentic, woody flavor, true to the bean.
Where do our vanillas come from?
Our vanillas come from terroirs renowned for their excellence and aromatic richness. Detailed information on the origin of each vanilla variety is available directly on the product sheet.
